2016-2017 Photo Student & Family Directory

2016-2017 is a Photo Directory year!

If you are new to WWE since the fall of 2014, then you may not be familiar with our biannual Photo Directory produced by Randall’s Photography.  But if you are a seasoned WWE family, then you know how fantastic this directory is! In addition to class lists and school contact information, this special directory edition features photos of WWE families photographed at Randall’s in a FREE session. One copy of the directory is given to each West Woods Elementary family.

See our Directory page for more information on the directory. Meanwhile, mark your calendars! We set aside dates early in the 2016-17 school year to take all the portraits. Online scheduling at www.randallsphoto.com will be available in July. West Woods families can also call Randall’s Photography, 303-425-6077, directly to schedule a session. Photos are taken in a first-come, first photographed manner. The time is more of a guideline than an actual appointment, so if you are early, or running late, just come on over to Randall’s! Photo session dates are (times are subject to change):

Friday, August 26th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday, August 27th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sunday, August 28th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

West Woods PTSA Announces Annual Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to Katherine Johnson, a graduating senior from Ralston Valley High School.  Katherine is the recipient of this year’s PTSA Scholarship.  The scholarship was created to recognize and celebrate our school’s contribution to a student’s lifelong learning success and is presented to a deserving student who attended West Woods Elementary.  Katherine embodies the WWE vision for our students through her academic success, leadership skills, and commitment to education.  She plans to attend University of Colorado to pursue a major in Business.  Best wishes to Katherine in her future endeavors!

The PTSA is pleased to make this $500.00 scholarship an annual tradition.  Pending budget approval, applications for next year’s scholarship will be available through area high school counselors and posted on the West Woods Elementary web site at the beginning of the 2016/2017 school year.

New Dismissal Process

***ATTENTION PARENTS***

Starting on Wednesday, August 26th, we will begin a new dismissal process for our car riding students. Due to the number of students now attending West Woods Elementary, the District will be sending our buses approximately 5-7 minutes after the 2:55 pm regular dismissal. As a result of this change, we will utilize the car pool loop and the bus loop for our car riding students. To expedite the dismissal process, the following procedure will be implemented:

  • At our normal dismissal time, 2:55 pm, all of our car rider students and walkers will be dismissed.
  • Students in Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, and any older siblings of students in these grade levels will utilize the car pool loop to be picked up.
  • Students in 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, 5th Grade, and 6th Grade will utilize the bus loop to be picked up.
  • Please see this diagram for a visual representation.

By using both the car pool and bus loops, we hope to have all our car riding students dismissed in a safer, more efficient manner. We are also hoping to alleviate some of the car congestion prior to our school and day care buses arriving. We believe this will actually make our dismissal process faster, and any difference in student drop off time from buses should be minimal. If you have any questions regarding this new procedure please contact the school. As always, new procedure will take a few days to run smoothly. Please be patient and follow all directions from school staff members to help in this process.

Thank you,

Jason B. Smith
